I've known Phillip Patterson since I was ten, when he would seize my tiny hands in a hearty handshake that became my template for how to properly greet people. A few weeks ago, before the AP and the BBC picked up his story, Phillip told me that he was almost finished handwriting the entire King James Bible and wondered if I might like to make a film about it. Just a few days after I said yes, the press discovered Phillip and his Photographer, Laura, therby releasing me of the burden of somehow summarizing his story. Instead of making an industrial for a friend, I got to make a little film about my friend. And a little bit about me, too. This is a tiny, tiny film - but its the first time I've ever let my own voice (literally) in, and I really just followed my passion and Phillip's wisdom in shaping the story. Phillip, thank you for everything.
